Women for Women International

After attending Women For Women's training and education courses in Kosovo, women like Bublaku are not only rebuilding their lives after war, but they are gently smashing the conservative boundaries that have limited their potential. And many men like Bublaku's husband are welcoming the changes thanks to the inclusive approach of WFW, which works worldwide to support women in countries scarred by war and those living in war zones.

In recent years, Bublaku has offered her home as a group training centre to Women For Women. Its courses offer women a chance to gather socially, receive vocational training and discuss human rights. But most of all it offers them independence.

"For the first time, women could speak about their suffering, away from our normal lives. It was a day I will never forget until I die," says Bublaku.

With funding from the Private Equity Foundation WFW will create a permanent headquarters in Pristina. Latifi says it is vital to the project's future. "This is what the centre will create – a permanent safe space for these women to rehabilitate themselves and address their trauma, to learn skills that increase self-esteem and create a better future. The temporary atmosphere the women created on the excursion will be made permanent there," Latifi says.
