Go the distance for the Private Equity Foundation

Leading venture philanthropy fund, the Private Equity Foundation, is looking for volunteers willing to go the extra mile for it, and the disadvantaged children and young people it supports. Having been approached by a group of private equity professionals who want to run the Berlin Marathon in aid of PEF, it would like to invite any other keen runners from within the community to take part.

Shaks Ghosh, Chief Executive of PEF, said “PEF hadn’t looked at fundraising through marathon sponsorship until we were approached by a group of people from within the industry who wanted to run in aid of their foundation.  We are obviously delighted and want to put the word out in case any one else would like to join them at the Berlin Marathon on 20 September.

“It is a frightening reality that some of the wealthiest nations on earth are still turning out young people who do not have the skills to join the workforce. In the UK, 1.2 million young people are not in education, training or work and given today’s economic climate, they are even more vulnerable and in need of your support.  Last year, thanks to you, PEF made a difference to 20,000 young lives through our 13 charities.  This year we’d like to help even more

PEF will provide an opportunity for registered runners to find out more about the foundation’s work and to meet other participants at a healthy breakfast.  The aim is to bring the group together at regular intervals prior to the marathon to support training, motivation and fundraising.

The Berlin Marathon takes place on 20 September 2009.  It is extremely popular, so anyone interested in participating needs to make sure that they register as soon as possible at http://www.real-berlin-marathon.com/events/berlin_marathon/2009/informationen.en.php and should contact Kate Kelly at kate@privateequityfoundation.org

Runners will need to cover their own transport and accommodation.
